No future for the mid-engine Corvette
With GM facing well-publicized challenges — along with just about everyone else who needs a little thing called money — certain high-profile and expensive programs are crowding up on the back burner. Even America’s sports car, the Corvette, is not exempt, with CAFE regulations clouding the view inside the ‘Vette Nation’s crystal ball. Motor Trend, commenting on the C7 Corvette’s delayed arrival,

Opel Astra Sport Tourer Wallpaper
GM Europe has released official images and info on the Opel Astra Sports Tourer, which will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show and go on sale in November.
The Sports Tourer is the wagon version of the popular C-segment Astra hatchback, which has collected over 160,000 orders in six months. It’s an important car for Opel, as wagons traditionally account for about 25% of Astra sales in Europe, higher than the segment average of 17%.
Load volume can be easily adjusted between 500 and 1,550 litres via the FlexFold Rear Seat system, which allows each section of the 60/40 split-fold rear seatbacks to be lowered at the press of a button located in the side walls of the cargo area. A spring is electrically released, activating quick, remote seat folding. With the seatbacks down, the cargo load length is increased to 1,835 mm, 28 mm more than the current Astra wagon. Besides that, occupants enjoy 25 litres of extra storage space inside the cabin.
Opel says that this wagon offers the same level of comfort and agility as the hatchback. First, its footprint and 2,685 mm wheelbase is unchanged while the rear compound crank/Watt’s link suspension has been modified for higher load capabilities and better support during cornering. In addition, FlexRide adaptive suspension provides a choice between standard, sports and touring modes and Trailer Stability Assist counteracts the tail wind produced when lugging a caravan trailer.
Engine options include eight petrol and diesel units. New to the range are two 1.4-litre turbocharged petrols; a 120 bhp six-speed manual and a 140 bhp six-speed auto. Sure to be more popular that those is the 2.0 CDTi with 180 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. This diesel option comes with an overboost button and sips only 5.1 litres of fuel for every 100 km (19.6 km/l). All manual transmission cars have a gear shift indicator coaxing you to drive economically.

However, unlike the sporty Kadett that combined exclusive styling cues with performance enhancements, the Corsa Color Race's upgrades are limited to cosmetic upgrades.
The three-door Color Race is available with a choice of three exterior finishes - Sunny Melon Yellow color, Casablanca White and Magma Red- and comes with a standard black hood as well as side and tailgate appliqués with a checkered flag motif, black painted roof and black 17-inch alloy wheels.

Opel Insignia OPC Sports Tourer

Aimed squarely at the Audi S4 Avant and the BMW 335i Touring, the Insignia OPC station wagon or as Opel prefers to call it, the Sports Tourer, shares the same mechanical underpinnings with the four-door sedan model introduced earlier this month. It comes with a four-wheel drive chassis mated to a 2.8-liter V6 equipped with a twin-scroll turbo cranking out 325 horsepower and 400Nm or 295-lbs/ft of torque.
Opel Insignia Sports Tourer OPC - Carscoop The hot Insignia Sports Tourer that will be sold in the UK with the VXR badge send power to all wheels through a six speed manual gearbox. Like its sedan offspring, the transmission is coupled to an electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD) claimed to reduce wheelspin.
Performance-wise, Opel give a zero to 60mpg (96km/h) sprint time of 6.0 seconds, or 0.2 seconds slower than the Insignia OPC sedan, while the estates top speed is electronically governed at 250km/h or 155mph.
Opel Insignia Sports Tourer OPC - Carscoop Other than that, the Sports Tourer features the same mechanical upgrades as the sedan including a lower suspension and beefier Brembo brakes with cross-drilled discs all around.
Same goes for the visual enhancements with the Insignia Sports Tourer OPC boasting a new front fascia with tear-like air scoops at both corners, side skirts and a redesigned rear bumper that integrates the chromed exhaust pipes. Inside, the hot Insignia estate sports Recaro buckets, a new three-spoke steering wheel with a flattened bottom, leather gear knob, sill plates and a sportier instrument cluster.

Chevy Cruze Photos

GM's green machine the Chevrolet Cruze ECO packs a 1.4 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder underhood. With variable valve timing and the 6-speed manual transmission, Chevrolet expects the Eco to return up to 40 mpg Highway (City mileage and that of Automatic-equipped cars will be announced shortly).
The Cruze ECO isn't just an efficient power/drive train either. A lot has gone into the whole package, from the lightweight wheels and "ultra-low" rolling resistance tires to the lowered ride height, this particular Cruze was prepped for good fuel economy.
It seems like the entire front end was engineered for aerodynamics; it has "a lower front grille air shutter that closes at higher speeds to improve aerodynamics and opens at lower speeds to optimize engine-cooling airflow, [the] upper grille has more 'closeouts' to improve aerodynamics, [and a] lower front air dam extension."
As expected, the gearing is for fuel mileage, not roaring fun. Chevrolet says you expect to pass the 60 mph mark in 10 seconds with the the stick (or about 9 with the automatic).
